Hey guys! I hope you all are having the happiest of holidays!! I just recently spent Thanksgiving with friends in Oklahoma and wanted to share a few places worth checking out if you ever find yourself in Tulsa. The weather was just horrible during our visit, however, our friends still showed us around and we managed to enjoy ourselves regardless. (Having good company usually has that effect anyway, right?!)
Explore the Philbrook Museum and Gardens
Art museums are pretty much my favorite places to explore while traveling! I’ve actually written an entire post about some of my favorites. You can read about them here…Top 5 Art Museums in the World! The Philbrook Museum is now added to that list of favorites. What I love, in particular, about this art museum is the building itself. The 72-room Italian Renaissance Villa was originally home to Waite Phillips, an American petroleum businessman. Later, Waite and his wife Genevieve donated the mansion to the city of Tulsa to serve as an art center. Such beautiful architecture, it really took me back to the beauty found in Italy! While visiting, you will find a beautiful gallery of Modern and Contemporary art, a Native American art collection, and more. Currently, and until January 17, an Andy Warhol exhibition is going on at the Philbrook. (He’s the artist that pretty much turned a can of Campbell’s soup into an art piece) Don’t forget to give yourself time to explore the gardens, simply stunning! I’m sure wandering through the gardens in the spring and summer months are just lovely! Click on the following link to plan your own visit and for ticket info…Philbrook.org!
Finding unique gift shops and boutiques are also a fun way to pass some time, especially when it’s raining during a visit elsewhere! My friend took me to a little vintage home store called Retro Den. I loved this place! Retro Den is a great place to find unique furnishings, you’ll also find some great gift ideas for friends, family, or even yourself;-) I actually bought some air plants here. I didn’t even know they existed until now, I’m literally in love with these little guys. Have you heard of them?
A little rain didn’t stop us from taking a few hundred shots on the famous and historical Route 66, haha! (bring your own umbrella) I’m so thankful my friend is just as much a crazy photo taker as I am. Gotta keep things interesting, right?! Our daughters were literally yelling “Car, car!!” from a safe distance, to let us know when to get out of the middle of the road. As I’m writing this, I’m realizing how ridiculous I am sometimes. At least we made some pretty funny memories, and thanks to our kids, we’re still alive to share the story.
Eat Pizza and Gelato at STG Pizzeria
Okay, guys, I saved the best for last…the place to eat, of course! This little authentic Italian pizza and gelato place is AMAZING!! You must try it! They make their pizza in a 100% Naples authentic wood burning oven…it cooks each delicious pie at a whopping 950 degrees Fahrenheit! Oh, and the gelato!! Creme brûlée with salted caramel, lemon biscotti, Sicilian pistachio…need I say more?!!! This great little Italian eatery is located in downtown Tulsa, visit the following link for more information…STG Pizzeria!
For a great coffee shop, try a place called Chimera Cafe. Our friends told us about it and said they really enjoy their coffee.
Have any of you been to Tulsa? Any recommendations?
Great write-up Andele! You never know what could surprise you while traveling. I guess that’s part of the joy in traveling to new places-the discovery & adventure of new things. Thanks for the post! Tulsa seems like a neat place ??
Haha! Yes, Rafael, Tulsa is a neat place? My favorite was spending time with some pretty awesome people!! Hope we have better weather next time, though! Thanks for reading and for the lovely comment☺️
Love this post!:) I recently moved back to the area, and Philbrook will always be one of my favorite places here. Downtown has really grown over the years, and Cherry Street and Brookside also have some great restaurants, coffee shops, and neat little boutique stores.

Thank you, Krisztina! What a great city you live in…so beautiful and charming☺️ I was only visiting for a short time, but hope to explore more during my next visit. I’ll have to put Cherry Street and Brookeside on my list, thanks for the recommendations!!
Glad you loved Tulsa, I love it here. Next time you’re around, check out the Brady District, home of Cain’s (awesome venue and awesome sign) the Woody Guthrie Center, Antoinette’s Bakery ( I have to eat something that wasn’t delicious) and Glacier Confection. We like to take visiting friends to Bill’s Jumbo Burger, which I swear has the best burger in Tulsa. Bring cash and come early, they’re only open on the weekdays. Circle Cinema is a treat for movie lovers. I could go on and on. Tulsa is an amazing city.
