My last and final blog post for Rome is packed full of pictures! Less talk more photos…you won’t mind, right? Here we are at the Pantheon!
The Pantheon
The portico and Jason hugging one of the pillars to give you an idea of how big they are!
Inside this magnificent building!
Raphael, the famous artist, bust and tomb!
We enjoyed hanging out by the beautiful fountain outside the Pantheon. We decided to find some pizza and gelato for lunch and enjoy this amazing view a bit longer!
On the way to our next stop, we stopped into a few shops to look around. In this little boutique, I almost bought the red handbag you see in this photo…decided to wait to buy one in Florence;). It was cute, though! What do you think?
Le Domus Romane Di Palazzo Valentini
My husband loves history, so I found this next museum on TripAdviser…Le Domus Romane di Palazzo Valentini . It was really worth the visit! Packed full of amazing archeological finds combined with technology to fill in the missing pieces. You get an amazing tour of this ,once upon a time, home of a very wealthy Roman family.
Trajan Column
After the visit they explain the history of the Trajan Column and take you under ground for an amazing up close view of the column. You could almost reach out and touch it! Made you think…who could have lived in this place with such a view to have this column just steps away? Here are a few pictures of this Amazing column! The column displays the war scenes from the battle between the Romans and the Dacians. The column was built in 113 AD. I still can’t believe it’s still standing today!
Where We Ate
After visiting the museum, we headed back to our hotel to freshen up before dinner. I found this unique restaurant on a travel blog I read…see, reading travel blogs can help in many ways;-). I wanted to eat here not only because of the great food reviews, but also for the ambience!
This restaurant was built somewhat underground with glass windows in the walls so that you could see some very unique layers of history. Used terra-cotta pots made to carry olive oil a very long time ago, were broken down after their use and formed an entire hill…Monte Testaccio. Here are pictures of this restaurant and the yummy food we ate! The meatballs were AmAzing…and the dessert, delicious!
The Keyhole
On our way back to the hotel, we payed a visit to a very unique and special spot just steps away from our hotel…it’s called “the keyhole”. The key hole of a door to the courtyard of a church that had an amazing view! Once you took a peek, you could see a beautiful view of St. Peter’s Basilica! It was beautiful!
We loved it so much that we came back the next morning before we left Rome to pay another visit. Here are photos of the door and keyhole:-)
Thank you for taking a visit to the remarkable, beautiful, amazing city of Rome with me! I hope you can join me on my next Italian adventure…a unique place full of art and beauty, Florence! Until then, Ciao! TADA!
